Our Conductor

Director of Music: John Monachan, CD SSM

One of the strengths of our musical organisation is the focus of our Director of Music, John Monachan, CD SSM, who concentrates on the basic elements of music including tuning, dynamics, rhythm, balance and more. It has resulted in a dynamic concert band that performs entertaining and memorable programs while presenting a wide variety of musical styles, from Broadway to pop and classics to marches.

John has a wealth of experience conducting community concert bands both in the Belleville area and in Southwest Florida where he and his wife wintered for 15 years. He was the founding conductor of both the Southwest Florida Concert Band and the New Horizons Band – Gulf Coast Symphony and led them until his return to Canada full time in 2024.

His background as a retired Canadian Air Force musician brings an experience to our group that is evident in the recordings found on our YouTube channel:
